Are there really grants out there for home based business?

My business that I have created is home based and I recently read an article about federal grants and other private grants for business, especially "minority" grants for businesses and home based businesses. However, with some research I found out that the government does not give federal grants for businesses at all whether we are people of color or homebased. I was wondering if anyone in the group or anyone else has any information about this or has received grants for their business? Thanks for your help and input.
